is when you find something that you have been looking for. In my case, today, it was this really old CD that was out of print that the record company had obviously decided to reissue? It made my day. Apart from that i finished my next column, on transparency etc etc. Was happy to have had some time to surf some blogs and that my friend John is into "design for the other 90%" as well. Always lovely to find a kindred spirit.
Weekend was, well, uneventful. Actually it was productive. Am still shocked that summer is over but whatever - makes avoiding the crowds easier...
Off to shanghai tomorrow... YAY. Excited to be seeing Qiu Hao n Ji Ji...
OH: China has 35 gold medals. That's more than Russia and the US COMBINED. GO CHINA!!!!!!!!
I was reading an article about back to school discounts in the times when it suddenly dawned on me--summer is almost over?!! The fall kickoff GUCCI / YSL invites are in and everyone is prepping for the fall fashion / design / architecture shows as well. Where did the summer go? I think i am finally grown up - i havent been to a single "summer holiday" party for the college crowd. I can't decide whether this is fantastic or horrifying but whatever, i've been busy. Actually i look back and well yes, busy, but i literally have no idea what i have done for the last few months??? Obviously things have been DONE etc etc but SERIOUSLY where has the time gone? i was telling someone today that i'd just been in Beijing and they were like, when did you come back and i had NO IDEA. Whatever it was a fun trip. That's probably the problem and why i'm so confused right now?!
I'm sick in bed (I always manage to make it home before i get sick thank god) and have just had an acupuncture session with Thomas, the best acupuncturist EVER. Always responsible though (RIGHT) i managed to make it to the David Brooks/Charlie Cook Asia Society Lunch as well as back to the office and to my afternoon interviews. It's been three days of popup product and the book should be ready next week. YAY... I waked into the Daydream Nation office yesterday all lost and confused and there Jing was, strumming his guitar. Awesome. Winnie was even cooler, sitting around building lamps for 100% Design London. I love her work. 6 weeks is a long time and a lot of parties but Nancy and I met and are cooking up some ideas... But a watched pot never boils so i figure its time to stop for now.
It's unbelievable that i have to write my column again ALREADY. It feels like just yesterday that i was in Cambridge trying to figure out what a green wall was. This time i have choice - Green fashion, walmart's 'diamonds, the poles, Jared and Rajan?? Who knows.
Listening to the leaked Lily Allen songs... She's cute i love her...
Anyhow the US are a couple medals on us but we have more golds! GO CHINA.
erIt's been a crazy week. It's hard to believe that exactly 7 days ago i was in NY at Zitomer buying candles and umbrellas to bring to Beijing. Since i've been here we've been out to LAN, Suzies, The Opposite House, Aqua, Red Moon, the Commune (with an excursion to the wall at like 1am)... I saw the Opening Ceremony and the Mens China v USA Basketball... I spent two days at 798, ran through the PLACE, worked slept played and who knows what else. All i can say is that literally the party HAS NOT stopped and i am EXHAUSTED.
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES BEIJING. Till i return in 10 days...
