While there were many interesting things brought up, the comment that struck me the most was the question on intelligence... Is intelligence sense-making or world-making? Probably no need to say which my position on the situation is. Particularly striking was also the conversation on how education, and the use of technology in education, can re-humanize, or even just plain humanize, marginalized children... The project done in India was very inspirational and thoughtful. I figure stuff like that doesnt happen as much in China because we figure the government (or the party) will take care of it... Too bad. But inspiring, for sure. I also loved the talk of slow design and John Maeda on simplicity... The media lab people might be ugly, but they can be interesting n kooky...
The irony of my being stuck in Cambridge writing a 'paper' that wasn't going anywhere was just too great to ignore. And we all thought that i was finally done with that... I did make it back to Darwin's to eat "my" sandwich though which was nice. And I also read like 3 books and watched 2 movies. Old habits die hard. Especially when they are prompted by paper writing, procrastination and jet lag.
Thank god i am back in New York and the weather is sunny. The street is beyond crowded with tourists taking pictures of the Gucci shop (no idea why this is interesting as a photo...) but still, good to be "home."
